For my last year and last project at Nottingham Trent University, I wanted to have a project that is heavily based on human impact to the landscape, with an idea to design responsibility. The name of this project allows me to expand on different ways humans have impacted on the landscape. Beginning with the urban landscapes and looking from high advantage points to observe the populated, compact humans today are living in.
Having a passion for sustainable design, I wanted to include items of clothing that are popular to a range of different people which they wear everyday. I started with blue denim jeans and plan to expand on this using other everyday clothing.
I intend to make interior products that have elements of recycled materials within them. This will allow me to give these unwanted clothing a new life and hopefully longer than they were first used for.
starting PHOTOGRAPHS
I began this project by taking photograph from high advantage points and in a range of different cities; London, Barcelona, Nottingham, Paris and my hometown on Hereford.
Drawings
Within my drawings I wanted to generate drawings that captured the populated and compact areas of urban cities. When studying my photographs I was surprised to see that most of them were made from three sections; the sky, the dense buildings and the building at the foreground. As my photograph have these three section I wanted to show this in my drawings.
woven designs
Knowing that I wanted to weave with denim first I planed to discover interesting structures and try many different combinations as I could pairing it with the denim stripes.
As I wanted my project to have a large sustainable stance, I used jeans that have been discarded by family and friends either unwanted or unable to wear.
